The councilman of Social Welfare and Health, María del Carmen Pelegrin, this morning visited three summer schools that the city of Murcia has organized for this summer, specifically the Ranero, Patiño and Juan Manuel Infante neighborhood.
The number of summer schools is 42 made, of which 38 are organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Health and in coordination with the six culture (El Carmen, St. Pius X, Cobatillas, Guadeloupe, Sangonera la Seca) associations and other voluntary groups.
The total number of places offered has been of 1,915 for the 42 summer schools taking place in the municipality of Murcia.
Pelegrin has highlighted the important work being carried out by university volunteers, who this year have been 18, and as places reserved for children with disabilities.
"We have reserved 14 places for children with disabilities in the various summer schools, 12 in the field of social services center Ciudad de Murcia (Ranero, Arboleja, St. Andrew, James the Greater, La Paz, San Pio X, Sta María de Gracia) and 2 in the field of social services center Murcia North (Javali Cabezo Old and Torres). "
With regard to volunteering for the second consecutive year, have collaborated in various summer schools a total of 18 university volunteers who selflessly give their time to support the various activities taking place.
Before the start of school, volunteers have taken a course in first aid taught by Red Cross as well as their participation allowed for credit.
The summer activities have offered children the opportunity to participate in an extensive program of recreational, sports and education, taking the opportunity to:
- Have new experiences
- Make new friends and interact with peers
- Learn other entertainment options
Of the 43 summer schools made, 30 have been in districts and 13 in the town.
The schedule of the summer schools organized from the Department is 10.30 to 13.30 hours, summer schools organized by volunteer groups usually schedule mornings and / or evenings.
