Hospital "Morales Meseguer" of Murcia recorded 25.7 episodes of infection by bacteria, bacteremia, revenue per thousand over two years, according to study in a doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Biology, University of Murcia by Carmen Guerrero Gomez.
The research, which has been rated as suitable cum laude, has analyzed the clinico-epidemiological, microbiological and factors associated with mortality.
Community bacteremia, arising out of the hospital, stood at 39.8 percent, while the detected during hospitalization accounted for 37.4 percent.
The research also ensures that the former were mostly of urinary origin, whereas the latter had, for the most part, an unknown or was caused by the catheter.
65 percent of the infections were caused by gram-negative, gram-positive while 33 percent occurred, and the rest were due to anaerobic and fungal elements.
This thesis was supervised by professors from the University of Murcia Manuel Segovia and Rosa Maria Blazquez.
