The Mayor highlighted the commitment of the government for the arrival of high speed Murcia (06/07/2012)

Murcia High Speed ​​Society promotes the completion of the baseline, which contains actions consistent with the work planned for the arrival of the AVE to the city.

The Secretary of State announces the forthcoming elimination of level crossings Tower Lane Romo and the Garres and tendering of various measures in the season of Carmen in 2013.

All three have renewed government commitment to the current schedule for the arrival of high speed Murcia, subject to budget forecasts, is expected in 2014.

This was highlighted by the Mayor, following a meeting this morning by the Board of Directors of the Company Murcia High Speed.

The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, attended the session, chaired by Rafael Catala, Secretary of State for Planning and Infrastructure of the Ministry of Public Works, and which also featured the Director of Public Works and Planning, Antonio Sevilla .

The council approved the plan for all stages of the proceedings, both urban and rail, including Phase I of the arrival of the High Speed ​​Murcia.

According to this calendar, currently being finalized drafting the Platform Project of the Railway Network of Murcia who was hired in the first half of 2011 after completion of the previous studies (Mapping, Geological-Geotechnical, Hydrogeological Monitoring, etc.).

After completion of basic projects to be tendered the drafting of the construction project, which specifies the work required of Phase I for the arrival of high speed to the region.

The basic project phases and confine Railway stretches that will undertake the construction projects and define the proposal to allow the arrival of the High Speed ​​Murcia.

As explained Catala, this phase I plans to carry out actions that will move forward to the integration of high speed.

Among the work planned is the elimination of level crossings Tower Lane Romo and the Garres, and other interventions in the train station, as the extension of the "beach road" and the parking lot to reach the 300 seats, or improvement of offices, and shopping arcade hits, among others.

The commitment to continue working on the arrival of this new infrastructure means the termination of the Basic Project this year, so that at the beginning of 2013 may be subject to procurement.

Moreover, the first phase of urbanization of the environment in Murcia del Carmen station will be completed in 2015, following the processing of land subdivision and development projects of the scope, timeframe of urban action adopted at the meeting this morning.

Coordination of actions

Murcia Society High Speed ​​SA was following the agreement signed between the Ministry of Development, the Government of the Region of Murcia, the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (ADIF) and the city of Murcia for the redevelopment of the railway network, which permit the entry of high speed in the city and therefore provides for an adjustment to improve urban railway environment.

Society is formed by the Development Group, through ADIF, with 50% of the shares, the Autonomous Community of Murcia, which owns 25%, and the city of Murcia, with the remaining 25%.

It was established to facilitate coordination of policies for the development of railway performance and urban transformation derived from the works, whose main objective is to finance the planned actions and the management of urban development and execution of urban infrastructure on land released in the environment.

Solution to an old problem

The urban integration of high-speed rail line passing through Murcia represents the solution to one of the great historical problems that the town has endured.

The global scope of action affects an area of ​​240,000 m2, of which 33,000 m2 will be reserved for green spaces, 20,000 m2 for equipment and the rest for space-residential dotacional.

The intervention will take place on a rail length of 7.8 kilometers of rail network.

The urban plan implementation will create a "new Murcia" as a result of the impact it will have in the coming decades due to the generation of green, livable, modern, residential causing new centers of attraction and a change in the mobility in the city.
