The City of Murcia has pioneered nationally in the holding of the Conference as early as 1999 it was called "car-free day" and subsequently in 2000 was established as the European Day "In Town Without My Car ".
In numerous previous editions, the City Council of Murcia, in particular we emphasize personal attitudes of citizens, launching the campaign "In town without my car, a Commitment of Citizens".
Next September 22, 2012 is expected to hold a new edition of this event, called "In town without my car! 2012."

This edition is part of all activities planned for the European Mobility Week to be held between 16 and 22 September.
The theme for this year 2012 is "Participate: Move in the right direction", aimed at raising awareness of citizens about the possibilities of alternative to private vehicles, saving and energy efficiency and environmental improvement, all designed to obtain a better quality of life.
To this end have been developed major campaigns coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment of the Government of Spain.
These campaigns provide a range of permanent measures which help to promote more sustainable mobility and more respectful of the environment.
It also includes a strong commitment to implementation of "Best Practices" related to sustainable mobility, saving and energy efficiency, all to encourage the development and implementation of tangible projects that offer real solutions to current problems of urban mobility sustainable.
