4,446 students from 49 schools participated in the XXIII Competition Local Road Safety Education and Accident Prevention.
The aim is to train good drivers for the future.
4,446 schools in the municipality will in future be good drivers, respecting traffic rules and road safety.
At least this is the ultimate aim pursued by the Local Competition Road Safety Education and Accident Prevention that this school has held its XXIII edition.
Mayor Miguel Angel House, presided this morning the awards to the winners.
The event, held at the Plenary Hall has been attended by the aldermen of Education, Human Resources and Safety and Traffic and Transportation, Lola Sanchez, Nuria Fuentes and Javier Iniesta, respectively.
The announcement, part of the Driver Education Program is targeted at students from 3rd year of compulsory secondary education in Murcia -14 and 15 years-that younger drivers are public roads and therefore the population in the most to be an impact when it comes to prevention.
This new edition of 4,446 registered students participation of 49 schools in a total of 70 (43 concerted, 25 public and 2 private).
Ensure learning and compliance with traffic laws and promote awareness raising and prevention of accidents are the basic objectives of this initiative, whose purpose is that the students of today are good drivers in the future.
And some should practice this skill and, since the age of 14 are able to use a moped.
The aim is to motivate students in learning and compliance with traffic regulations, improving responsibility and caution against risk attitudes and risk, in order to help reduce the high rates of traffic accidents.
At first, the competition aims to introduce young people in learning the rules, signs and advice relating to driving (speed, safe distance, driving under the influence of alcohol) and knowledge of the elements essential to driving safe (helmet, keeping the tires, lights, brakes, ...).
Students have had to overcome various choice tests over 3 phases developed in recent months.
The competition assesses both participation of centers as individual effort made by students.
The contest began last March and ended on May 21.
Thus, the 1st phase-conducted during March-ended with the intervention of 4,446 students from 49 schools.
They were ranked the 477 students who received more than 80 points.
The second phase was held on April 24 in the auditorium of local police, where they competed individually and joined scores of teammates.
There were 441 students in 147 teams.
The third and final phase took place on May 21.
She agreed 7 teams with 21 students from 6 schools (Merced Fuensanta, Monteagudo, Cipriano Galea, Gabriel Perez Prison, Floridablanca and Jose Plans.
