The school of the Holy Infant School Limonar Angel, received the award credited as Green School.
The Aldermen of the Environment, Adela Martinez-Cachá, and Education, Maria Dolores Sanchez, have come to the school this morning to unveil a plaque.
This nursery school has students aged 3 to 5 years, which together with their teachers and environmental educators advised by the Department of Environment, have developed activities to achieve better environmental management of their school.
Since the 2007-2008 academic year participating in the Green Schools program and over the years have worked on issues related to water and waste.
Among the activities undertaken include educational visits to 'The Contraparada', to strengthen the objectives with the theme of water, emplacement of containers in different areas of the center for recycling paper, plastics, toners and ink cartridges for printers or collection of used oil from the school, for reuse in a workshop production of homemade soap.
They have also participated in several projects related to the environment, such as 'Plant for the Planet' or 'Book Project'.
In its Green Dot regularly reporting every action taken in school.
In addition, through the journal Limonera Gossip Column 'and different ecological information circulars provide information to all parents of the center.
The Green Schools project, set in the Environmental Education Program of the City of Murcia, intends to conduct an environmental audit scheme schools.
The main objectives are to optimize the use of resources (paper, water, energy) and minimize the potential environmental impact of their daily activity and, finally, to train and educate environmentally entire school community to lead center management towards sustainability.
Since the implementation of this program 18 schools have been awarded the Green Schools Award in recognition of his work.
In the 2011-2012 academic year have been added 6 new centers for this initiative.
Since 2001 a total of 51 schools and colleges have participated in this program.
