A pair of wild storks nest for the first time in the park Terra Natura Murcia (11/05/2012)

A pair of wild storks (Ciconia ciconia) have chosen the animal nature park and Terra Natura Murcia to nest.

More than 40 years did not produce a nest of this species in the city of Murcia, as experts have said the resort Murcia.

The couple has selected bird aviary, located in the subject area set in the Iberian Peninsula, to build their nest that has an approximate weight of about 30 kilos.

The makeshift home of these wild storks has a dimension of approximately 50 centimeters in diameter.

These birds are protected and nest in almost the entire Iberian Peninsula, except the area south and the islands.

Their diet is based on amphibians, reptiles, worms, and in some cases their presence is detected in landfills, where they feed on organic waste.

The species is notable for its large-scale, in some cases has come to be around 125 centimeters tall and nearly two meters long that between tip and tip of the wings.
