The University of Murcia cooperate with investigations carried out by the Food IMDEA, whose scientific director is the investigator Jose Maria Ordovas, a recognized expert in the field of nutrigenomics, the science that offers a personalized diet to prevent or delay the onset of diseases associated with the relationship between genes and nutrition.
Cooperation between the two entities will be the result of the collaboration agreement signed at the headquarters of the Rector of the University, whose signing ceremony was attended by Ordovas, who is currently the director of the Laboratory of Nutrition and Genetics, Tufts University ( Boston).
The promoter of the alliance, Professor of Physiology, Marta Murcia Garaulet institution, said that after visiting Boston with Professor Ordovas, where he focused on the development of nutritional therapies to prevent and avoid obesity, thought to prolong the University of Murcia research that was giving so much fruit in America.
Ordovás referred in his speech to the Convention's objectives, which go through deepening an allowance to take account of the genetic basis, thus to avoid obesity and certain diseases that it brings.
The agreement was signed by the director of the Foundation, William Reglero, who thanked the host of the University of Murcia, and the rector, Jose Antonio Cobacho, who defined it as one of the most important conventions of his time in the Senate.
The firm also brought to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Internationalisation, Gaspar Ros, the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Relations and Health Sciences, Manuel Vidal, and Dean, Faculty of Biology, José Meseguer, who expressed the honor that this collaboration is for the institution and the importance of an initiative that touches on topics such as diseases arising from poor eating habits.
