In research conducted at the Center for Research in Optics and Nanotechnology, the researcher José Ignacio Iglesias Casarrubios, Laboratory of Optics, University of Murcia, has developed a new method of phase microscopy allows quantitative three-dimensional imaging of samples transparent in real time.
The system adapts to the camera port of a standard optical microscope and is particularly suitable for investigating dynamic processes such as in the study of cell motility or developmental biology.
The researcher notes that "unlike other complex methods proposed in recent years, interferometric or holographic laser light they need, it has very low complexity and uses conventional light instrumental" making it easier and cheaper process.
This study was conducted with financial support from the Seneca Foundation, Science and Technology Agency of the Region of Murcia.
