Socialist spokesman, Pedro Lopez, believes that the initiative of extending the tram route to link the district with Plaza del Carmen Circular is to correct the original error committed by the PP to not take the first line 1 to connect the North- South of town.
"Instead of thinking of taking travelers to the malls, the PP should have raised a route through areas where population density ensures a high number of travelers".
However, Lopez estimated that before embarking on this new project, the City should study closely whether in times of crisis, municipal funds can support an investment of this type, and whether it would be more profitable to allocate this money to political that create jobs directly.
Lopez points out that there are alternatives to effectively join the Barrio del Carmen and Plaza Circular, some even provided within the Mobility Plan announced by the PP in 2010, as was the express bus to link the garden with the Round with Floridablanca a frequency of four minutes.
"Time has passed and the PP has sold only smoke on public transport, although these measures would be easy to implement immediately," says Lopez.
If the City Council finally opted to keep the tram, the Socialist spokesman recalled that the PSOE's electoral program included local elections launch a study to convert the Gran Via in a priority area for pedestrian use compatible with public transport, cycle lanes and ensuring access to parking lots and garages as well as delivery vehicles.
