The Catholic University San Antonio (UCAM) today welcomes the Holy Relics of St. John of Avila, namely a fragment of his uncorrupted heart, which may be venerated in the Temple of San Jerónimo to 17:00 hours, both by members of the university community of the UCAM, for all those who want it.
St. John of Avila, patron of Spanish secular clergy, will be declared on dates very close Doctor of the Universal Church by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI as the pontiff announced on 20 August in Madrid, as part of World Youth Day Youth 2011.
After the solemn reception of the relics at the door of the Temple, at 9:00 am, there has been praying the Middle Hour of the memory of St. John of Avila.
