Mayor House and the director general of the Fundación "la Caixa" this morning signed the partnership agreement, which aims to break the transmission of social insecurity in families.
CaixaProinfancia program has served more than 10,000 children and 5,557 families in Murcia since its introduction in 2007.
The project is across 7 social institutions coordinated by Caritas and CEPAIM.
In order to break the intergenerational transmission of poverty from parents to children, encouraging the development of a more healthy and happy childhood and a fuller development of their potential and capabilities, the City of Murcia and Obra Social "la Caixa "have signed an agreement establishing the framework for collaboration to carry out the development program CaixaProinfancia.
The mayor of Murcia, Miguel Angel House, and the director general of the Fundación "la Caixa", Jaime Lanaspa, today signed an agreement that aims to enhance and ensure CaixaProinfancia driven projects, the program of child care in poverty and exclusion of the Obra Social "la Caixa" and ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of their results.
The agreement states that the Social Work and the City jointly identify and analyze the spatial distribution of social vulnerability and risk of exclusion affecting children and families in Murcia and require care beyond the specific needs, an approach overall performance that falls seamlessly in processing and improving the reality of childhood and family.
Both institutions also undertake to define a joint portfolio of services that can respond to the needs of households served and optimize public and private financial resources for these families.
CaixaProinfancia seeks to break the line of transmission from parent to child poverty and promote the full potential and capacities of children.
The program targets children in poverty, economic and social vulnerability in order to promote and support their development in a comprehensive manner, fostering and through support for policies to improve equity, social cohesion and equal opportunities for children and their families.
I work with all household members
Running for five years, the program aims to ensure CaixaProinfancia promotion of socio children from 0 to 16 years at risk or suffering exclusion, in trying to ensure that, despite the difficulties, have an open door to a better future and enjoy the same opportunities as others.
This results in developing a work plan with the whole family.
This is a comprehensive approach to child poverty, focusing on the daily work with all members of the family unit, which has resulted in the care of a total of 10,142 children and 5,557 families in the municipality of Murcia since 2007.
Only in 2011 reached a total of 2,528 children and 1,567 homes.
One of the key objectives is to ensure the promotion CaixaProinfancia socio minors, understanding that this depends to a large extent, their future welfare.
This is specified in the development of five major lines of work: strengthening education, informal education and leisure, family educational support, care and psychosocial counseling and health promotion.
Obra Social "la Caixa" also works to help improve family income and provide access to basic goods (food, hygiene products, school equipment, glasses and audiófonos).
Single parenthood and unemployment
Depending on the type analysis and the sociological profile of households served by CaixaProinfancia in Murcia, one in three families receiving assistance are single parents (30.8%), in which only one adult (the mother, in most cases), with dependent children, struggles to pull ahead.
29.9% are large families and, as to place of birth, 37.7% of fathers and 77% of children served are Spanish.
The dimensions of exclusion associated with employment (temporary unemployment and long-term occupation of exclusion, irregular employment) and housing (overcrowding, unsanitary conditions and excessive spending, among other indicators) are those that most affect families served.
The indicators on the economic axis shows the high incidence of job insecurity in families at risk of exclusion.
Thus, in 39.3% of households receiving aid Murcia CaixaProinfancia the main breadwinner is unemployed and 31.5% have temporary contracts.
Within the economic hub, housing problems are, after exclusion associated with use, the most pressing.
Fabric of social alliances with seven entities
CaixaProinfancia is intended as a comprehensive project of transformation and improvement which are included several social actors, institutions and government agencies in each territory.
Obra Social "la Caixa" is the driving force behind the program, while seven social organizations are responsible for implementing CaixaProinfancia in Murcia metropolitan area and CEPAIM Caritas (coordinators), Columbares, Neighborhood Coordinator, Copedeco, FEAPS and Gypsy Secretariat.
Because these organizations are those that best know the needs of each area, the program is responsible for completing the action carried out for social inclusion of families with children, and contribute to the organization deepen its genuine social action: the daily work to ensure that, within the framework of an inclusive process, families at risk of social exclusion enjoy a more normal life as possible.
The program proposes a model of social action, so that different organizations, and social services of general government, are responsible for identifying children and families eligible for aid and to assess the child's needs globally .
"La Caixa" has invested 12 million euros in the development and expansion of social services offered in Murcia.
