The students from IES José Saavedra Fajardo Prisons Moreno Murcia has been one of the winners of the National Olympiad of Biology, held at the University of Murcia this weekend, and will represent Spain in Singapore in the International Olympiad of the specialty .
This student was proclaimed champion in February the regional phase and repeated success in national, where he obtained one of the four first prizes in a competition that has collected in the Social Center of Murcia University High School students winners respective regional Olympics.
In addition to theoretical and practical tests related to biology, the conference included the II Spanish Olympic Scientific, a lecture by Professor of Physiology Juan Antonio Madrid and cultural visits to the Museo José Loustau Laboratory and the cities of Murcia and Cartagena.
At the close was attended by Vice Chancellor for Research and Internationalization of the University of Murcia, Gaspar Ros, the General Director of Technical and Scientific Research of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Juan Maria Vazquez, the director general of Universities and Scientific Policy of the Autonomous Community Eduardo Osuna, and the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, José Meseguer, among others.
The Olympiad, which aims to promote student interest in science, was organized by the Faculty of Biology, University of Murcia, Spanish Biology Olympiad and the Spanish Royal Society of Natura History.
