The University of Murcia and Cartagena Polytechnic University today launched a mobile application that allows access to information and news on the Campus Mare Nostrum (CMN), the project of excellence that promote both institutions.
The application, which is free and is available on the website of the CMN (http://www.campusmarenostrum.es), has versions for both Android phones and iPhone with support for English and Spanish.
During the presentation, which was held today at the headquarters of the Rector of the University of Murcia, also took stock of the activities of the Campus of Excellence in 2011, first year of the project.
The Vice Chancellor for Research and Internationalization of the University of Murcia, Gaspar Ros, has referred to the actions undertaken in the field of academic offerings, including securities quoted double and joint teaching English courses for students technical and vocational training cycles and the Summer Science Campus for high school students.
He also noted the Erasmus Mundus or 90 courses were offered in UNIMAR, University Campus Mare Nostrum summer as a result of the union of the supply of both institutions.
In the R + D + i, the Vice Chancellor stressed the promotion of research through scientific activities such as the Olympics, the Archimedes Contest, participation in the Researchers' Night, the organization of the First Inclusive Summer Camp Spain (for students with disabilities) and the celebration in Murcia RESOUK.
Other actions taken are Ben-Arabi plan to promote the international mobility of talent to the campus of the CMN, support to entrepreneurs or the constitution of the Unit Valuation and Technology Transfer, and the improvement of public transport, promoting bicycle lane or adaptation for students with disabilities of all facilities.
In addition, CMN has signed ten international conventions and established strategic alliances with institutions such as the European University Institute and the University Euro-Mediterranean (EMUNI) to meet its goal of revitalizing higher education and sustainable productive development of the Mediterranean basin.
The rector of the University of Murcia, Jose Antonio Cobacho, highlighted the effort and work to take forward a project that involved 43,000 people from both universities, students, teachers and administrative staff and services, and plans 34 lines of work for this year.
In conclusion, the chancellor of the Polytechnic, Felix Faura, CMN has rated the project as "more exciting, interesting and of greater potential than those currently implemented in the Region of Murcia".
Both bodies have agreed that during 2011 it has done all that it has been, considering that some of the funds for the CMN has not been paid yet.
