A score of Defenders University, including the University of Murcia, Jose Palazón, have shown "concern and sadness" by budget cuts affecting these institutions "to a greater or lesser extent."
"We believe, they say in writing that they have signed, that college and university is a value that must be defended in our society, because it allows the development of knowledge should serve all our citizens."
College Advocates also claim that "scientific and technological development enables it to constitute a company to significantly increase the social welfare of citizens, the university trained professionals prepared to respond to the many social functions necessary to conduct our lives."
The signatories call on the authorities of the state and autonomy "that do not apply economic criteria and restrictive in their budgets in the basic sectors of our society, and the university is one of them."
