Pedro Vicente Martinez, head of the local police in Yecla, presented today at the offices of Chancellor of the University of Murcia the book "Identity and police forces. An anthropological study from the bad cop to good cop", which is based on the PhD thesis defended at the educational institution in July last year.
The book, published by Isabor, is an anthropological study of the figure of the police, with significant field work in its 257 pages addressing how identity is constructed of different police forces.
The chapters of the work, said the secretary of the defense of the thesis and Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Murcia, Pedro Ángel Rubio Lara, identify and describe the types of police, values ​​and feelings of these, police culture and external influences to the group.
Professor Rubio Lara's book highlighted the idea that the police are a reflection of society in which they live, a conclusion reached by the author after four years of research in which, to find and personal interviews, has joined his experience as a policeman in Yecla.
In his turn to speak, Peter Vincent has argued for a small change in police training to prevent frustration in the exercise of the profession, "so they know what will be, what they will find in their work and how they will its relations with other policemen. "
In the presentation, which has brought the building of convalescence to a wide representation of political personalities, like the mayor of Yecla, Mark Ortuño, and senior police officers participated the Minister of the Presidency, Manuel Campos, who said that the book is a new contribution, anthropological, supplementing other studies that have analyzed the police from other points of view.
For its part, the rector of the University, José Antonio Cobacho, has expressed satisfaction with the work done at the Faculty of Philosophy and Anthropology Area, where the author's doctoral thesis conducted germ of the book.
The delegate of the Government in the Region of Murcia, Joaquin Bascuñana, closed the ceremony by noting that, although the Security Forces of the State are the groups most valued by citizens, "are also a great unknown, unknown to aspiring to avoid this work. "
