Given the brief filed by the company on March 8 which states that it will proceed to the dismissal of the city lines, the City of Murcia has decided this morning to Local Government in order to Latbus continuity of service considered essential for the municipality.
The City Council considers the urban passenger transport is an essential municipal service and delivery status is mandatory in all municipalities of over 50,000 inhabitants, according to Article 26 1.d of Law 7/1985 of 2 April, regulating the Bases of Local Government.
It is therefore appropriate to adopt whatever measures are necessary to legally established to maintain the continuity and regularity of the public service.
It was also required to keep the bonuses that apply to users of the lines of districts whose residents can not receive discriminatory treatment of users of the urban lines
We must remember that the City of Murcia meets the conditions of the tender strictly governing urban transport since 1981 whereby the company assumes the risk and responsibility for the operation and the City subsidizes the price of the ticket to certain connective, as large families and retirees.
Moreover, it should be stressed that the City of Murcia not to any financial amount to the current concessionaire at the same time wants to make clear that is not true that there is a final judgment for which to be paid to any amount the current concessionaire .
