The health food and nutritional approaches to markets and culinary techniques (13/03/2012)

The Department of Health Veronicas market leads to the "Hall of Health and the Senses" to engage all sectors of society

In order to combat overweight and its consequences, the Department of Social Welfare and Health, which runs María del Carmen Pelegrin, performs an important action in the promotion and protection of health food and nutrition, developed through Comprehensive Plan to promote healthy eating and physical activity of the City of Murcia.

The comprehensive plan includes combined actions at community, school, work and health and incorporates aspects of promotion, protection and prevention aimed at the different stages of life relying on specific activities for the elderly, children and youth, risk groups , people with chronic diseases, etc..

The Hall of Health and Sense is an initiative created with the intention of involving the whole society and all sectors.

This project aims to introduce the quality of life related to health as a strategic in all classroom activities through cross participation in educational, community and health.

The classroom space is also open to initiatives that come from different institutions and stakeholders.

The overall project objective is to improve the quality of the diet of higher nutritional risk groups, children, elderly and chronically ill, through awareness, training and education in healthy eating habits.

To achieve a shift habits workshops propose a methodology to "learn by doing" acting not only on knowledge but also on the motivation and skills, thus enabling to implement what they learned.

This can be achieved by bringing the world of markets and food, through the experience that you can specify in the food supply local markets and cooking techniques to make them.

The planned activities are aimed at moving the food at street level, including these workshops in activities to promote healthy eating does this Department, as well as make them available to all stakeholders.
