The assembly of the skeleton of the elephant "Rosario", the University of Murcia acquired two years ago from a zoo in Alicante, will be completed in a few weeks, failing to finish the articulation of the bones, a task carried out by Mariano Hernandez Orenes Albarracin and Jose Lopez, Technical Veterinary Anatomical Museum of the educational institution.
The preparation of the skeleton has involved two years of hard work, as befits an animal of 3,500 kg, the largest of which has the Museum, and a challenge for members of the Teaching Unit of Anatomy and Embryology, Veterinary University Murcia
This skeleton will become part of the collection of anatomical specimens that now houses the Museum of Veterinary Anatomy.
In addition, Mariano Orenes also culminated the preparation of a complete skeleton of common blackbird, who will join the collection of skeletons of domestic and wild birds can be seen in the Museum.
The skeleton has the distinction of being articulated in flight position, and keeps the skin covering the beak and feet to recreate the most common form of this type of bird you see in orchards and gardens.
