The slight rise in temperatures has coincided with the birth of a Barbary sheep (Ammotragus lervia) at the premises of the nature and animal park Terra Natura Murcia.
The little baby, who at birth weighed about 3.5 kilos, now runs the prairie herbivores but without departing from the watchful eye of his mother.
The young specimen shares premises with the rest of the group of this species and also with the other baby was born in late January.
Caregivers have gotten so again these cattle breed in captivity.
With this last birth, and there are six births that have occurred within the species complex of Murcia since created a breeding group.
Currently, the park has 10 specimens of this species, of which six are males and four females.
Since its birth, the little Barbary sheep has been completely integrated into the group and has been protected by them as usual in their kind.
This animal was introduced in Murcia in the 70's with an end hunting, being the only place in the Iberian Peninsula that had this kind.
It is a very hardy animal that comes from northern Morocco and has dramatically adapted to the climatic conditions of the Region of Murcia.
One of the main features of these animals is a long and extensive hair extending from the chin to the chest, where it forks and continues until the front legs.
Both females and males have beard and two curved horns, which in the latter case usually has a greater length than those in females.
