Starting tomorrow, a website will show all the trees in the municipality and citizens can report incidents, suggestions and questions
The Department of Environment of the City of Murcia, who heads Adela Martinez-Cachá, has developed an application for citizens to have direct line to the City Council to request action on each of the approximately 100,000 trees in the municipality.
Environment commitment to conservation and promotion of urban trees.
Not only by the steady increase of copies, but by improving its management and putting all the information available to citizens.
From tomorrow, any Internet through the website of the Environment http://www.murcia.es/medio-ambiente/ can access the new application 'Murcia, from tree to tree', which is possible to consult and even watch 'in situ' any of the 42,000 trees on sidewalks and streets, and the 55,000 trees in the gardens of Murcia and districts.
Thus, any citizen can access from any computer with this application and indicate exactly which tree needs care such as pruning or replacement.
Adela Martinez-Cachá explains that this initiative came about because people have proven with your calls and emails to the Department and the media who are interested and concerned about the special needs of the trees, and are willing to cooperate by giving notice their possible needs.
For this new application has used GIS technology (Geographic Information Systems), an indispensable tool in natural resource management, large infrastructure, and even in our daily lives through the network.
The City of Murcia commitment to this system for managing our city's green heritage.
To this end, there has been a georeferenced inventory, ie that not only does the kind and characteristics of the tree, but also positioned on a plane with their coordinates.
Thus, it can be found looking over one's own plane, or even entering the name of a street.
Once you find a tree that interests us, we can check your data sheet and a link that leads to sight 'street view', ie a real image of the tree.
It is also possible to access an incident form and can transmit or ask for any information you may find relevant on the tree.
Thus, the City Council wishes to take this collaboration to optimize the maintenance of the trees in the municipality.
