The University of Murcia yesterday celebrated the closing and awards ceremony of the XI Regional Championship University Sports, which has faced in Lorquí at three universities in the region of Murcia.

The universities have competed in seven sports, namely basketball, handball, football, soccer 7, 7 rugby and volleyball.

The University of Murcia won the men's handball, football and rugby 7 female 7 male, while the UCAM won in other categories.

The University Sports Regional Championship is the preliminary to the national championships each year organizes the Sports Council.

The winners of each category will represent the Region of Murcia in the Interzonal stage and will reach the Inter-University Championship in Spain.

Following a custom initiated in 2008-2009 to celebrate each new edition of the regional phase in a different municipality in the region, this time meetings were held in Lorquí under the organization of the University of Murcia.
