Lorca's campus will host the III Olympiad Regional Geology, to be held tomorrow, Friday the 24th, with the participation of 240 high school students.
In this issue special attention to geological events occurred recently as the earthquakes in Lorca or the eruption of the island of El Hierro, so that young people could learn from these natural phenomena.
The event, which begins at 9:30 pm, the conference will include geologist Juan Antonio Lopez Martin, who will talk about the earthquake last May, and a visit to the failure of Lorca explained by students of the Institute Ramón Arcas Mecca.
In the Olympiad, which aims to promote the passion for Geology and disseminate this knowledge among society, is to elect four representatives from Murcia to the national phase, to be held on March 24 in Santander.
Before the conclusion of testing, participants will learn the experiences of Hector Navarro García Lorca, who won the silver medal in the International Olympiad held last year in Italy.
The activity is organized by the University of Murcia, Association for the Teaching of Earth Sciences, Geological Society of Spain, Association of Geologists and Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
