The Chamber of Arts at the University of Murcia hosts today, March 20, until 23 February, the XXXV National Meeting of Young Geographers, in which about 150 students from throughout Spain known natural hazards in the Southeast.
The program consists of lectures and round tables to study phenomena such as earthquakes, droughts, floods, erosion or desertification.
Another activity is the field day on Wednesday, when there is scheduled a visit to Lorca to interpret the failure of Alhama and a tour of the Rambla de la Sierra of Mulberry, where he analyzed the risk of flooding, and erosion of Bolnuevo, both in the towns of Mazarron.
The conference, organized by the Young Geographers of the Region of Murcia (GEOMUR) in collaboration, among others, University of Murcia and Mazarron Town Hall, with the participation of teachers and Francisco López Bermúdez, Francisco Calvo, Jorge Olcina Francisco Belmonte or Jose Chacon.
The opening ceremony was held today in the House with the presence of the Vice President for Coordination and Communication, María Ángeles Esteban, the mayor of Mazarron, Ginés Campillo, the president of GEOMUR, Daniel Moreno and director of the Department of Geography the University of Murcia, Carmelo Conesa.
