The IU-Green spokesman in Murcia, Esther Herguedas, has filed a motion to the next full council for the regional urge the Government to "recover the amounts intended to aid school canteen" for needy families.
Herguedas explained that in the current school year has been a "significant" cut in aid, which, in his view, has created "a serious social problem" that affects especially households with low income.
"This kind of scholarship represented a clear relief for these families, while guaranteeing that children from deprived backgrounds, and in some cases clear risk of social exclusion, to receive at least one meal a day," she added.
In this regard, he alleged that some families have had to rely on Social Services for "guaranteed aid that was the only option were available to their children properly fed."
In the motion, Herguedas has also requested a study to analyze the situation of the pupils of nursery and primary education, with data from Social Services and the schools themselves
It also requests the support of the corporation to enable the regional government "immediately" budgetary allocations to ensure access to school meals for these children.
