The IU-Green spokesman in the city of Murcia, Esther Herguedas, will today and tomorrow at a meeting of councilors and parliamentarians organized by the European United Left-Nordic Green Left (GUE-NGL) and the Network of Elected Representatives Progressive and Local Authorities in Europe (Realpe) in Brussels.
The meeting, entitled "Municipalities in Europe: in the spotlight of neoliberal policies but also as examples of resistance and alternative projects," includes two papers, one on the local situation against neoliberal policies and other about the implementation of alternative policies that benefit the public.
Speakers include MEPs Willy Meyer (UI), Lothar Bisky (Die Linke and President of the GUE-NGL) and Francis Würt (president of the GUE-NGL) and Councilman IU in the city of Zaragoza and Raul Ariz. researcher at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) of France Noëlle Burgi.
Herguedas, one of 20 people from Spain participating in the meeting, explained that the framework is seeking a social outlet to the crisis by addressing local issues from a European perspective, and exchange of experiences and development of alternative projects of civic policies.
