The partnership also plans to develop training and scientific research and encourage innovation in local government.
Murcia will become a testing laboratory to verify the possibilities of the use of a new sustainable asphalt to be applied on an experimental basis in some urban thoroughfare of the city.
This is one of the aspects of the collaboration agreement signed this morning by the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, the president of the Business Association of Research Technology Center Construction of the Region of Murcia (CTCON), Miguel Mengual.
Also attended the signing Councilwoman Urban Quality and Infrastructure, Ana Martinez Vidal, and the Director of Construction Technology Center, Antonio Trigueros.
The framework agreement also provides for work on the development of training, scientific and technological research and technical assistance, helping to foster and promote research and innovation in the municipality of Murcia.
In addition to the pilot project for sustainable asphalt, collaboration between the two institutions will also find in other areas, including boosting R & D business, as it will assist companies that want to incorporate new technologies and technical advice to municipalities, through training and participation in innovative experiences.
On the other hand, the move CTCON technical recommendations on the construction of new municipal buildings, especially in aspects such as design, energy efficiency and use of suitable materials.
The project will carry out the Construction Technology Centre of the Region of Murcia for the creation of new asphalt focuses on the sustainable development of decontaminants bituminous mixtures and aims to reduce the concentration of NOx, CO2 COV'sy urban areas with high concentrations of these components by applying a new type of mixture that has the capability of decontamination due to the photocatalytic properties of materials.
The test is carried out in an artery of the city to be determined, to support heavy traffic in order to see the improvement that occurs in air quality.
With these initiatives, the City of Murcia advances its goal of reducing emissions by 20% of greenhouse gases, to achieve 20% energy savings and also use 20% renewable energy by 2020.
