Councilman IU-Greens in the city of Murcia Jose Ignacio Tornel today urged the Popular Party to "move from words to deeds" and "move tab" for families affected by foreclosures as a result of defaulting on its mortgage.
"It is time for government to act," the mayor stressed, emphasizing that although this is an issue that must be addressed in the parliamentary arena, the City "also has something to say about this complicated situation."
In this regard, he insisted that the municipality "has the resources to prevent this situation is reached, and could perform a mediating role with the bank and advise families in need."
Thus, "not only be offering some helpful tools for the protection of citizens, but also avoid having to address the issue from their own municipal responsibilities for social services, which are saturated."
Tornel also explained that the boards of St. Pius X and Bacons Bridge have unanimously approved an IU-Green initiative to request the establishment of the payment in kind and promote measures to help stop the eviction of insolvent families.
Together with these agreements, boards have also given approval to the council claims on financial institutions to rent vacant apartments that are owned for less than 30 percent of the income of families who have been evicted.
Also pointed out that local groups of the session unanimously agreed last July to the Assembly demand regional solutions to combat the problem faced by many unemployed who are at risk of losing your home.
