Fans who join a sports club at greater risk for violent behavior at sporting events, according to one of the conclusions of the doctoral dissertation at the University of Murcia by Ros Almudena Martinez.
This research, which analyzes the disruptive profile in adolescents interested in the sport, says "there is a tendency to think and act with this profile fans between the ages of twelve and fifteen years."
Other findings of the thesis is that the presence of women is increasing in recent years and that involvement in sport falls "significantly" from 16.
The study indicates that family and friends are the people who particularly encourage young people to be fans, "and if the models are troublemakers and have disruptive behavior, it can also be expected that future fans."
The author of the doctoral thesis advised the selection of strategies in the future should serve as key guidelines for the design and subsequent development of physical activity programs to include, among its key objectives, the prevention of violence.
This research, which has obtained excellent cum LADE, was led by Professors Enrique Javier Garces of Fayos and Francisco José Moya.
