Chamber joins commemoration tomorrow XXI World Day of Cooperatives.
The cooperative sector is a key business model for the promotion of economic and social development and the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, want to do so publicly acknowledged.
To do this, file a motion to the next plenary session of the Corporation, which will take place on Thursday, for the Council to accede to the UN resolution that has proclaimed 2012 as International Year of Cooperatives.
This is the first time in history to devote a year to this business sector, in the case of Murcia, is currently composed of 750 cooperatives with 10,000 members.
This figure rises to 6,000 people if they incorporate the agricultural workers.
Worldwide, the sector is made up of about 800 million people in 100 countries and is estimated to provide over 100 million jobs.
The motion for discussion by the plenary session at the request of Mayor promotes the recognition of the Corporation to work towards developing UCOMUR creating and maintaining jobs.
Also urge the City Council Chamber to continue collaborating with UCOMUR to publicize the International Year of Cooperatives and cooperative promotional activities be promoted in the city during 2012.
For this, the initiative of the Mayor intends to continue working to improve, and-as far as possible, extend, tools and resources available to the City Council to raise awareness of the cooperative formula to entrepreneurs that are served from different municipal programs, with the collaboration of organizations representing the sector.
On the other hand, Miguel Angel House will participate tomorrow in commemoration of World Day of Cooperatives XXI to be held at the Teatro Circo.
