A pipeline will push the water from the treatment plant to the Murcia-East Corner Illanes
The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, and the president of the Segura basin, Charo Quesada Gil, today visited the works of the project of "Recirculating flows in the urban section of Murcia" organized by the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine through the CHS.
The works declared of public interest and urgent as a priority action, have a budget of 13 million euros and were subjected to mandatory environmental processing according to current legislation, with favorable resolution of the General Administration of Quality and Environmental Assessment .
Completion is scheduled for September 2013.
The action is to drive a maximum flow of 2 m3 / s flow rate is incorporated into the urban stretch of the River Segura, of which 1 m3 / s capture of the river itself, having to run to do a work of taken at the same, and the rest of the flow (1 m3 / s) is taken from the treatment plant effluent Murcia-East.
The flow rate will be conducted from the filter and through a discharge pipe length of 11,500 meters and 1,200 mm in diameter, to existing flume downstream near the Rincon de Illanes.
To capture the flow has designed a weir on the type of inflatable dam on the river, near the exit of the treatment plant in Murcia-East, it may be deflated at will, besides having an automatic deflating the dam when get large flows, as in the case of floods, allowing free passage and protecting the inflatable dam itself.
Therefore, the proposed action is to:
- Increase the currently circulating flows in the urban section of Murcia in 2 m3 / s at most.
- Encourage the natural purification of water due to increase travel times of the flows.
- The water is oxygenated promotes the work of reinstatement, improving the quality of water circulating in the whole section, the environmental quality of the river, thus protecting their habitat.
The work also included the expansion of the grain of the left in the urban section to a width of 6, 5 meters, making it passable for vehicle maintenance, and environmental and landscape measures primarily aimed at the protection of birds.
It also includes measures aimed at social integration, such as points and jetties for fishing canoes.
