The Mayor and the Dean of the College of Architects inaugurate the exhibition of works entered in the competition for the management and design of this access to the city
The road to El Palmar is going to become the first access to Murcia whose image will be renovated and refurbished to give the appearance that corresponds to the status of the city.
To choose the best proposals, the City of Murcia and the College of Architects convened a design competition for the planning and design of this scope, structure and improve its aesthetics.
It is also developing the City's plan to improve the urban environment and quality of life for residents of the metropolitan area.
The 10 papers presented are an exhibition can be visited at the headquarters of the school, and this morning was opened by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, accompanied by the dean of the College of Architects president, Antonio García Herrero, and Councilman Planning and Housing, Juan Antonio Bernabé.
One of the key criteria in the selection of proposals is its practical nature, ie they can be realized and its ability to translate the idea into concrete spaces which act, taking into account existing housing and traffic intensity .
Thus, besides improving the picture in the roads, the objective pursued by this call was to improve the quality of life of people living in that area and at the same time, adapting to the needs of the area will have the city ​​in the coming years.
This is not a whitewash or paint walls and asphalt, but to address a comprehensive urban rehabilitation.
The affected area stretches over 3 miles from El Palmar to the intersection of the alias.

The jury took into account the conceptual and formal quality of the proposal, the resolution function of starting problems and the adequacy of the proposal to the objectives, technical feasibility, economic and social integration with that urban structure is inserted and clear exposition of the proposed solution.
The jury was composed of representatives of the Planning Department, College of Architects and the region.
The four finalists will participate in the next phase starts now and will be the development of the four finalists to finally choose a winner.
The authors will meet with the panel to discuss and elaborate on the content of their proposals, and thereafter shall have until spring to present the development of their ideas.
