The Plenum of the City of Murcia has unanimously approved a motion in relation to the situation in Western Sahara and the Saharawi people by the mayor of UPyD José Antonio Sotomayor.
The motion was intended that the full realization of an institutional statement in which it becomes apparent support for the Saharawi people, a condemnation of the violation of human rights, civil and political suffering, and a commitment to cooperation.
The agreed text contains a report on the situation of deprivation of liberty and civil and political rights suffered by the Saharawi people in the illegally occupied Western Sahara by Morocco since the invasion in November 1975.
It also condemns the illegal exploitation that makes Moroccan occupying its natural resources, and express our concern and rejection of human rights violations carried out by police and military forces in Morocco occupied Western Sahara, including illegal detentions , torture, arbitrary imprisonment without trial, rape, murder and disappearances.
Finally, the text includes a commitment to do everything in hands of City Council to strengthen cooperation with the Saharawi people and their authorities, to improve their living conditions and development in all areas.
