Councilman Green IU-Murcia Jose Ignacio Tornel has filed a motion in Parliament tomorrow requesting the establishment of a minimum rate of water consumption charge for families with all members unemployed and with no income .
Tornel has indicated that the implementation of this proposal is temporary, "to the extent that economic recovery is initiated by the makers of the family unit and the conditions to access it verified by the municipal social services."
The mayor noted that the financial situation of many families is causing the non-payment of water bills, which, in his view, "further aggravates the physical damage to those who suffer the worst consequences of the crisis."
In this regard, he opined that water is a necessary good which access may be denied by the government to citizens that their economic situation as a result of the crisis can not afford to pay the service.
