IU-Green Murcia today proposed the adaptation of the old jail as a cultural center with the consensus of neighborhood associations in the environment, which would also serve to expand the premises of the municipal board meeting spaces lacking.
Councilman Green IU-Murcia Jose Ignacio Tornel has indicated that its proposal includes the construction of classroom studies, exhibition halls and facilities for a file that could be devoted to the recovery of historical memory of the city.
Tornel has indicated that the old prison is a "state of neglect" and that since the 1999-2003 term municipal group issued its initiatives to municipal budgets to include the acquisition of the building, which has not been done so far.
Also pointed out that the legislation requires the Panopticon and preserve the exterior facades and interiors.
