"Museums in a changing world. New challenges, new inspirations" is the theme for the next edition
The Museum Ramon Gaya, the City Museum, the Museum of Science and Water and the Water Museum of Murcia in 2012 will again add to the celebration of International Museum Day to be held around May 18 next year.
The global museum community will celebrate the 35th anniversary of this day, which will be officially opened on Wednesday, November 2 with the theme "Museums in a changing world.
New challenges, new inspirations. "
The celebration will build on the success of SID 2011, which saw a record participation with events organized in over 120 countries.
This year also launched its space on Facebook, attracting more than 1,500 friends and the official poster was translated into 37 languages.
The International Museum Day 2012 will allow visitors to ask about the role of museums in a society where constantly new born new media, and discover or rediscover how museums are interested in the future in terms of sustainable development.
Museums can develop programming around five themes proposed:
- The role of museums in a "new" company
- For a sustainable development
- Building the future by learning from the past
- The era of new media
- Adapt to innovate
For the second consecutive year, the International Museum Day will have a website (http://imd2012.icom.museum), available from November 2, and its presence on Facebook.
