The Mayor chairs the Council of Murcia Water has decided to create a social fund to the most vulnerable families.
Other 4,500 families next year will only pay the service fee.
The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, presided this morning the Board of Directors of Aguas de Murcia, where it was found that the number of customers has increased by 0.89% to, 30 September, the figure of 178,507.
Water consumption has dropped by 0'61%.
Consumption per inhabitant per day in homes is 115.84 liters, following the same trend of recent years.
The population amounts to 443,657 inhabitants supplied and remains a clear example of responsible drinking.
The technical performance of the supply network reaches 83.39%.
As a novelty, the Council has given the green light to a social fund will be allocated to the most vulnerable families in the Municipality of Murcia and that will allow them to benefit from nearly 100% of the water bill.
It is estimated that about 1,000 families will host a fund to be remains to specify the conditions of application.
Still further reclaimed the rates for certain social groups:
- 3312 families will benefit from numerous discounts on consumption.
The number customers qualifying for the bonus rate has increased by almost 4% since 2010.
- Pensioners and retirees will continue to pay only the service fee, 4543 so that customers will benefit from annual savings close to $ 100.
As for the general rate undergoes small variations from previous years due to the implementation of the decision of the Supreme Court recommending a change to an existing system less progressive.
Thus, taking into account this correction and under cost study, the average increase for most families (0-20 m3/bimestre consumption, 80% of customers) will be 90 cents € / month.
And for a family of 4-5 members that consumes 42 m3 two months the increase is € 1.09 / month (2.85%).
The parameters on which this proposal is to make the undertaking a service offering based on the continuity of quality and activity levels already developed and in promoting the modernization of our facilities, considering the current conditions that we imposes.
