Councillor Equality Policy and Development Cooperation, Alicia Barquero, yesterday presented the screening of the film "Dying Day" by Laia Manresa, which closes the loop "Women's Cinema", in the Municipal Center castle gate.
The Department of Political Equality and Development Cooperation of the Municipality of Murcia with the Institute for Women has developed over the month of October the traveling exhibition 'Women's Cinema', a cycle that reviews the work of some of the directors most important of our cinematic landscape.
The show began on October 24 with the short 'Interview with a white man' Beatriz Caravaggio, followed by the film 'Lady' from director Patricia Ferreira.
The cycle ended last night with 'Dying Day' Manresa Laia, who attended to go along with Councilwoman Alicia and Ana Isabel Palacios Barquero, technical director of Women in Film.
Throughout this year, the cycle will cover a total of 15 national and international locations such as Berlin, Madrid, Casablanca, Avilés, Paris, Benidorm, Prague, Sanlucar de Barrameda, Constanza, Ciutadella, Moscow, Ourense, Murcia, Belo Horizonte and Aranjuez.
The project aims to vindicate and draw attention to the creative work of women in the Spanish film industry, given its small presence in positions (only 8 percent of films produced in our country are run by women and female participation in script and production does not reach 20 percent).
In this second edition also feature film projections and discussions, 'Women's Cinema' commitment to the future, also include a short film made by a woman before each pass.
Another novelty is the homage to be rendered in each edition, one of the pioneers of our film, as film director Josefina Molina, who was awarded the Women in Film 2011 July 8, at the Academy of Cine.
