The bishop presides Lorca plans Friday morning celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Canuto Franco in the parish of Our Lady of Sorrows of Aljucer
Canuto Franco Gomez, born in Aljucer friar in 1871, was shot in Madrid during the Civil War, together with his colleagues of the Instituto San Jose, nursing the sick, for refusing to leave the care of these.
Beatified by John Paul II in Rome 1992, along with 70 companions of the Order of St John of God, was one of the first blessed Murcia in 200 years, since his beatification Hibernón Andrew in 1791.
Aljucer Parish has organized events throughout the week as a Triduum, a photographic exhibition, publication, and the solemn Mass presided by Bishop tomorrow at 7 pm.
At 7 pm tomorrow, the Bishop of Cartagena, Jose Manuel Lorca Planes, chair of the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows of a mass Aljucer part of the events held this week on the same occasion of 75 anniversary of Canuto Blessed Franco Gomez.
This aljucereño, born in 1871 in full garden, as a young man entered the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, serving during his years as a monk at many destinations such as Granada.
Back in Madrid, was sent to the Instituto San José (in Carabanchel Alto), nursing the sick, the same place as Benedict visited this summer after chairing the JMJ2011 and before returning to Rome.
Civil War started, the monks were urged to abandon those admitted to the institution, which had no other place to go.
By refusing to do so, were removed from the school and shot in Carr, the September 1, 1936.
On October 25, 1992, was beatified in Rome by Pope John Paul II, along with 70 other companions of the Order of St John of God, including those with him attended the Instituto San José.
At the same ceremony, held in St. Peter's Square, Vatican other Spanish martyrs were beatified the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Claretian) and a South American secular.
Between the two groups of monks were 3 Murcia.
Canuto Besides Franco, another monk of San Juan de Dios, Ruiz Cascales Process (Beniel) and the Claretian José Pavón Good (Barrio Peral, Cartagena).
These three raised to the altars Murcia on October 25, 1992 were the first to be in Murcia in 200 years, after the Blessed Andrew Hibernón (1534-1602), who was beatified in 1791 by Pope Pius VI, whose process of beatification took nearly two centuries.
To commemorate the 75 anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Canuto, the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows of Aljucer has organized various events throughout this week:
-A photo exhibition with pictures of the Blessed, home and family, where he exercised his work, as well as photographs of the Beatification and other celebrations.

-Visit of children from exposure catechesis
-The Mass tomorrow, which will be chaired by the Bishop of the Diocese
