The University of Murcia has opened a new hall of the Faculty of Chemistry which will be called Lumera Hermenegildo Castro.
It pays tribute to this thereby municipal councilor in Murcia, one of the first voices calling for the creation of a university to Murcia.
It was the June 27, 1887, in full of the City of Murcia, when called for the creation of such a center "because parents are concerned that their children can continue their careers without having to leave his side."
"And since the Minister of Public Works is willing to enter in the State Budget an amount for this purpose, efforts should be continued as many as necessary to achieve beneficial thing."
The University of Murcia still take 28 years in existence, but Lumera de Castro had the honor of being one of the initiators of this debate that ended with the incorporation of this university at nine then worked in Spain.
The opening ceremony was conducted by the rector of the University of Murcia, Jose Antonio Cobacho, the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Gregorio Sánchez, Alfredo Francisco Salar Lumer, great grandson of the honoree, and other relatives.
