Councilwoman Andrea Garries today demanded the mayor responsible for Sport, Miguel Cascales, to make an effort to contain the budget in the face of looming exercise and stop wasteful spending.
In this sense, Garries noted that the Sports Department last year spent a total of 82 600 euros in the organization Padel Championship Ciudad de Murcia, a test that was held for six days in October last year.
This figure contrasts with the 85,000 euros for the same council budgeted for grants to clubs, associations and federations that move thousands of young athletes during the 2010/2011 season and have been distributed among 35 organizations.
The mayor says the PSOE does not seem reasonable in these times of crisis for a single event spend almost as much as for the promotion of sports in the municipality of Murcia, especially considering that were left out of the aid granted by Murcia City Council a total of 19 clubs and associations who had applied for a grant to the Department of Sports and if he had acted with more rigor could have met all the requests.
Councilman Garries Sports claims to reflect carefully on every dollar you spend and be aware of the "important role of sport especially now that base is being primarily maintained by the economic effort of the parents."
"Clubs that help educate people through the values ​​of sport, should not be abused by whims and unproductive events," concludes the socialist mayor.
