The Governing Council of the University of Murcia, today met in regular session in the building of the Senate, has shown its commitment to the resolution adopted by the Faculty Board of Medicine to oppose the introduction of a new center at the University Catholic "San Antonio".
The agreement of the Faculty of Medicine stated that "it is an objective fact that Spain has a total number of doctors in relation to the population, higher than the surrounding countries."
"The origin of the supposed lack of doctors, he adds, is none other than an uneven geographical distribution of specialist medical professionals, lack of courses in medical specialties deficit-like excess in others, and over-recruitment system rigid. "
The Faculty Board notes that "in the case of our center, from the 105 new students in 2005-2006 to 200 we spent the 2010-2011 academic year."
"The creation of a medical college, private in this case, breaks with the principle of equality, merit and ability, which governs the public universities," said the agreement also.
The Governing Council of the University, to show their support for the resolution of that center, has expressed concern at the deterioration of the quality that can suffer the public service of education, especially in the development of practices in hospitals , which has already been demonstrated by nursing students.
On the other hand, the college governing body has approved the sign collaboration agreement with nine other universities and with the Virtual "Miguel de Cervantes" to create the "Chair Vargas Llosa."
At the beginning of the session, the rector, José Antonio Cobacho, has welcomed the commissioner dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Miguel López Bachero, and congratulated the newly elected Student Council President, Ignacio Garcia.
