The nature and animal park Terra Natura Murcia has celebrated the birth of a new breeding otter (Lutra lutra) in their facilities.
With the advent of small specimen there are now four births of this species, which have occurred in Murcia facilities since in 2008 the first captive-born otters.
Parents, caregivers baptized by the complex with the name Rocco and Vagui, remain with the brood without losing sight in no time.
The greater weight of brood care rests with the mother at all times, is responsible for monitoring the small carnivorous and feed breast milk to ensure its survival during the first phase of growth and development.
The birth of the offspring occurred after his mother, Vagui, has completed a gestation of 61 to 63 days or so.

The small otter, which weighs just 120 grams and measures 10 inches, installing shared with their parents and four other individuals of this species, which is protected by CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora).
The role of nutria within ecosystems is so important that even the experts believe it is an indicator species for the health of the Spanish rivers.
