The increased use of antidepressants in the Region of Murcia is recorded in the Northwest region, while, conversely, the lowest occurs in the highlands, according to the doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia and analyzing the figures for period 2004-2008.
This research developed by Magdalena García-Pagán Escarabajal, said that in the third municipality in the region, Lorca, dispensing of antidepressants in those years has increased.
The study indicates that the dispensing of generics in 2004 accounted for 7.83 percent of antidepressants, rising to 10.40 percent in 2008.
The thesis, which has obtained excellent cum laude, advised the need for some protocols to unify criteria on these diseases.
