The full City Council unanimously approved a motion to support all initiatives being taken by the President of the Autonomous Region of Murcia to require the Government's Office to acquire a firm commitment to the European Union for Mediterranean Freight Corridor is key to the future of the Region of Murcia.
Likewise, urge the Government of the Nation, and the parties represented in the Council of Deputies, to express themselves firmly to the EU in defending the route from Algeciras to France.
The text of the motion passed unanimously is the sum of two motions filed by the Municipal People's Party and Union Progreso y Democracia.
Recently it has been known that the EU could not include the region of Murcia on the Mediterranean Corridor-in Algeciras drawn between the French border, and it becomes necessary to require the Government of Spain to honor its commitment to make the Corridor in its entirety is incorporated into the Trans-European core network.
The municipal People's Party group in the city of Murcia considered it the duty of the Government of Spain formally commit to this project to unite all Spanish Mediterranean ports, making the Iberian Peninsula in an intercontinental logistics platform of the first order.
