The Governing Board approved the project and specifications for contract work on the bike path in El Palmar and Sangonera la Verde
The implementation of the various sections of the structural axes North Coast, South Coast and the Green Alternative Sangonera implies the implementation of segregated bike lanes along the entire length thereof.
The Governing Board of the City of Murcia has given the green light to the project and specifications for the implementation of bike lanes in the districts of El Palmar and Sangonera la Verde, a total of 457,053 euros and a deadline of two months .
The works are financed jointly by the city of Murcia and the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General for Transport and Ports.

Murcia City Council plans to bid soon the next leg of South Coast, the so-called section 1.1 whose function is to connect with El Palmar La Alberca.
The City Council will approve a project to build a road cycle path along the avenue on May 1, from the roundabout that leads to the structural axis Coast south to the roundabout to access the city health Virgen de la Arrixaca, extending posteriorly to Pintor Muñoz Avenue Barber of the same parish to provide access to green areas and sports facilities recently built.
After the Municipality shall prepare the construction of the extension of the bike path whose final destination is connect to the existing Alternative Sangonera la Verde.
This project also provides a small stretch of bike path in a branch of the Green Alternative Sangonera necessary to unite the existing bike lanes in the parish, giving access to the Green Sangonera HEI and leaving open the possibility of extension to other villages close (eg urbanization Torreguil).
When completed the construction of the road cycle path will have a length of nearly 20 km in total (10 miles from South Coast, 4,800 km of variant Sangonera and 5-km link between El Palmar and Sangonera la Verde).
The Avenue bike lane on May 1 will be one-way traffic in both directions, with a width of 1.75 meters safety guards.
The section around the access to Medical City will also be unidirectional, while the bike path that goes to Avenida Pintor Muñoz Barberan be bidirectional, as that will run in Alternative Sangonera la Verde.
