Today has started at the University of Murcia, the symposium will analyze through Thursday, day 30, the causes and consequences of land degradation in the country.
The symposium, which was opened by the rector of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Cobacho, and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Félix Faura, University Social Center consists of five invited papers, which are responsible for a subject area and a keynote address, which was given by Professor Ahmet Mermut, University of Harran, Turkey.
This day deals with the quantification of soil degradation, which will be addressed by Diego de la Rosa, the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), and the causes and processes of this, issued by the University professor Politécnica de Madrid Rafael Espejo.
The program is supplemented by thematic areas and soil conservation recovery, with a presentation by professors from the Autonomous University of Barcelona; impact of land degradation in the hydrological cycle, by teachers at the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) and land degradation in the global context, a conference to be offered by researchers CEBAS-CSIC in Murcia.
A panel discussion will close the meeting, which includes oral and poster as well as a scientific field trip tomorrow, Tuesday.
The symposium was organized by Professor of the University of Murcia Roque Ortiz Silla and the Department of Agricultural Chemistry, Geology and Soil Science from this institution and also has the collaboration of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the CEBAS-CSIC.
