Mariano Carrera Blázquez, better known as Dis Berlin, born in Soria in 1959, has been the winner of the Area XII Painting Prize of Plastic Arts, University of Murcia, with the work "Cantos: Metaphysics" The award, sponsored by the Foundation Fuentes Vicente, is endowed with 8000 euros.
Dis Berlin's work is represented, among other places, in the Museo Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Artium Museum in Vitoria and the Museum Hirai Takamatsu, Kagawa (Japan).
Known are its type collages of women present in films of Pedro Almodovar as "Kika," "Tie Me Up" or "High Heels".
Similarly, the jury awarded two separate runners two other works: "Remembering Le Voyeur" by Simon Zabell (Málaga), and "Interior" by David Martinez Calderon (Jaén).
This edition had the participation of 119 works from throughout the country and several European countries.
The twenty works selected by the jury will be exhibited in November at the Hall of Columns of Almudí Palace Arts Center.
The Jury Prize for Painting XII has been made by the Rector of the University of Murcia José Antonio Gómez Cobacho as Honorary President, Juan Manuel Bonet, writer and art critic, painter Antón Patiño Perez, Soledad Sevilla Jaen Portillo and Rosa Brun, and Martin Paez Burruezo, director Almudí Palace Arts Center of Murcia, acting as secretary Carmen Veas Arteseros, Technical Service Culture at the University of Murcia.
