Students and faculty of the School of Nursing, Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM), have developed this morning on-campus mock disaster.
The activity, part of the subject 'Emergency and Disaster' which houses the Nursing Degree UCAM, collaborated several institutions such as the NGO Action Fire and Emergency Management 061, the Region of Murcia .
The simulation has been developed in various scenarios, taking into account the different aspects to be discussed during an emergency, where students have been able to practice the skills needed to care for and evacuate victims who have suffered an accident.
The subject teachers and coordinators of the workshop, Manuel Pardo and Jesus Ferrández have assured that the main objective of this activity is to lay the theoretical knowledge acquired by students through the simulation of scenarios and situations as real as possible.
Importantly, attendees were able to witness and assist in a rescue from height, which has rescued an alleged victim trapped in a block of flats, and for which it has been necessary to evacuate by zip.
"Due to the earthquake in the city of Lorca, have seen fit to introduce a novelty for this drill. Therefore we have proceeded to perform a vertical rescue and rescue with zip. These bailouts are done in coordination with firefighters and rescuers and can be much needed in situations where there are landslides or collapsed buildings, "Professor Brown has said.
