Has grown considerably the number of volunteers and children served María Dolores Sánchez delivered the diplomas to the participating university
107 university volunteers have participated in the 2010/2011 academic year the school building program developed by the Hall family of Murcia.
The volunteers have served 168 children from 10 districts and 25 districts, spending 4,359 hours on this project.
The Councillor for Education, María Dolores Sánchez, explained that has grown considerably lower number of volunteers and served as it has grown from 81 volunteers in the past year to 107 east, and 124 children last year to 168 in 2010 / 2011, with about 600 hours of extra tuition during the academic year.
María Dolores Sánchez has delivered the certificates to the volunteers participating in a meeting held in the Lecture Hall of the City Hall Annex building.
This program starts again in September, coinciding with the school year.
The initiative has been held since the 1999/2000 academic year, with the collaboration of the Office of Volunteers at the University of Murcia, and consists of young volunteers to help with their homework to children with learning problems are behind in their studies, etc.
Children participating in this program improve their academic performance, improve in the way of coping and to function in everyday life.
In addition, children acquire habits of study and volunteers help families to give more importance to the education of their children.
The young participants are nominated by social workers of the Municipal Department of Social Services, and came mostly from disadvantaged backgrounds.
